alright so I've been busy rebuilding the motor to my 98 gs500e and I'm going to seal it back shut tomorrow.. I did a practice run without any liquid gasket to see how it will go and I noticed it is a pain trying to line everything up.. Rods, pulling timing chain thru, lining up the parts for the transmission... Any tips?
ive pulled the engine appart a few times for my 89, did it all upside down, chain was no problem in the least, didnt have to worry about shifter forks moving either, just pay attention that all thrust washers/bearings/retaining clips have been reinstalled. your using a non hardening liquid sealant like yamabond, or Threebond 1104 right? make sure all bolt holes are clear and clean, all dowl pins are presant and accounted for. and just take your time. in fact before i "sealed" the cases i did a dry run of dowls and bolt placement, walked away, came back the next day, undid it, recleaned and degreased where needed, and sealed it for real.
