Title: OEM or Alternative Bar Ends
Post by: pignapper on January 28, 2014, 08:20:16 AM
Last fall I changed my grips and apparently didn't tighten one of my bar ends sufficiently.

Long story short I didn't notice when it fell off during a bumpy ride.

I went to the dealership to buy a new one and they wanted $60!!!! For a small chunk of metal!!! I'm in Canada, so our prices might be higher.

Now I'll admit to being frugal or maybe even cheap. But my bike only cost $3000 (bought a 2007 with 11,000km last June), so $60 is 2% of my bike's original cost, and to me that seems crazy!

So three questions:

R & G makes some good ones... here is a link to them on their site, but they can be found on different reseller's sites, and even ebay.  Comes in pairs.

Did you check online dealers?  I checked one I use frequently for reference and discount price is $22.54.

Have you tried the local breakers?

The breakers was the first place I looked. Unfortunately there are not many motorcycles up here in Canada.

Thanks for those other two replies, I'll check them out.

I realize it's a bit more money, but I've been looking at these bar ends that sound like a big improvement over stock.

Complete "balancer set" for one is $30 US
   BALANCER SET,HA      56200-01841 (replaces 56200-01840)       $30.46 (US prices)

I use R&G on all my bikes. You will need to buy one rubber busking to replace the lost one but people make them from rubber hose or other things.      EXPANDER,HANDLE   56272-44500    $3.51

Post from US to Canada is a killer. If you had a US address I probably could send you one for $10. You ride come to Seattle and pick up one in person. Installation is free.
