Title: I quit watching olympics after 2 minutes
Post by: adidasguy on February 07, 2014, 10:59:27 PM
Yep - I tuned in to see some of the opening ceremonies.
They started the big Russian dramatic presentation.
WHY THE F** CAN'T THE AMERICAN ANNOUNCERS ON TV SHUT THE F*** UP?
Its like being at a cheap local theater with everyone on their cell phones.
Come on - I want to WATCH and HEAR the music. I do not want you to explain that there is a horse on the screen or how the effects are done. I want to enjoy the presentation.
SHUT UP NBC!

WTF? I gave them one more chance. 30 seconds then "We'll be back after commercials" and this is right in the middle of the opening presentation.

You got it easy Pat .... We sat up a little later last night because "the opening ceremony was coming on" ....

Started watching about 10.30 PM ... About 11.35, after endless tv presenters banging on about how excited they were, a couple ex Olympians banging on about what they remembered of their games, crosses to on site reporters banging on about minutiae of the last minute preparations....

They announced that they would continue their 'coverage' until the start of the opening ceremony at 3.45am local time ....

:technical: frag that for fun!! ... Went to bed and will catch it later sometime .. Maybe.... Same as you .. I don't give a mangy scabby dogs rectum what the presenters are thinking... Show me the ceremony!!, show me the events!  :icon_rolleyes:

Games are on and all the TV can muster is a couple hours a night? Can't be stuffed watching their small handful of Chosen sports. Back to cable I go....

Yea, the Olympics are not what the used to be. They spend millions upon multi-millions building venues for 2 weeks worth of games, just to say look at us. Look how great our country is. Look how much we spend. What ever happens to these facilities after the games? The games have been pretty much a joke for the last 20 years. This years games seem to be pure propaganda.

Answer me this. With today's technology why don't they broadcast any of it live like they did back in the day? The Olympics where always on, every station. It's become a censored spectacle these days. I could care less about most all of the events accept individual sports, like boxing and wrestling. Nothing compares to hand-to-hand combat sports IMO. No teams...just man against man....do or die, and to the victors go the spoils.

Also, they should get the kids out of the Olympics. I feel bad for them and the pressure that is put on them to win.

Remember this? The Wide World of Sports

why I gave cable up.  sciFi became SyFy national geographic becomes NatGeo, andf most of these stations lkose what nade them, Exhibit 1 your honour, raeality tv. I killed cable tv., all stations simulcast usually anyways.  so why pay for the tv, just stream it.

If you get CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), they have much better live Olympic coverage that runs most of the day and has less commentary. For me its Channel 99 on Comcast. The problem with ABC is that they focus too much on American athletes and nothing is ever live.

I have to admit that I agree. shaZam! is just plain boring now. And all the reporters do is talk talk talk talk with zero break between inane and otherwise useless dribble.

I hear you. Some of those skater dudes dress like fruitcakes. They really rubbed it in the Russians faces.

You know what would not be a ghey Olympic event?....Suzuki GS long jump. or GS luge, or, Suzukhockey, or GS freestyle half pipe, or GS curling.

Only thing I've watched is Roy and HG - and - Snowboard/Ski Cross. I reckon a GS Cross on the snow would be a hoot to watch  :thumb:

Spoiled rich kids (Americans) playing mostly x-games type stuff winning gold for worthless competitions.  Yea, I passed on the entire thing.  The winter olympics are especially a rich kids thing -at least for Americans and probably Canadians.
