Title: Frame slider install questions
Post by: mimikeni on February 28, 2014, 08:31:10 AM
Hey All,
Just received my T-Rex frame sliders for my 1996 GS500E.  The instructions that came with the sliders are obviously for a newer model.  My bike is mostly naked.  Anyone install these on their GS500, and are there any tricks I should know about to do this job.  Gonna give it a go this weekend. Thanks

How long did you wait? I've been emailing them frequently to find out when they are going to be back in stock.

Anyway it looks like they attach to the lower front engine mounting bolt and then replace some of the bolts on the engine side covers.

Do you have a pic you can show us of what's in the box?

The motors for all GS500's are basically the same.
They would mount the same whether there was a fairing or not.

I'll take some pictures of the slider off the bike and some after the install.  It seems pretty straighforward.  When I first tried to order them, the sales staff told me they were expecting a shipment.  They emailed me a few weeks later and said they had one set left.  So, from first contact to receipt of the merchandise was about 4 weeks.
