I trying to remove the brass caps from the mixture screw hole, accidentally drilled part of the carburetor body threads. :technical: And now the mixture screw won't back out. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do? :icon_question: I am able to run the bike, but, its idle and throttle response is just a bit mixed depending upon the day. It would be great to get the mixture screw out and get the jet cleaned.
You need to say whether you have the 2 jet carbs or 3 jet.
If not sure, 2 jet carbs have 2 screws on the float bowls and are 1989-2000.
3 jet carbs are 2001+ and have 4 screws on the float bowls.
Thanks. I have a 91 and I think it is california carb system, as it has the hoses that come out of the bottom of the float bowl and get recirculated. I am not familiar with the 2 or 3 jet difference. It only has one mixture screw at the bottom of the carb housing, I drilled out the brass plug and accidentally, the drill cut some of the threads on now the mixture screw won't back out of the threads. hope this clarifies your question about 2 or three jets. I will have to look at the carb body tomorrow.
so which carb is boogered? as if your sitting on the bike, is it the right or left carb?
Btw you have the 2 jet model carb. pilot and main
