Hi everyone! I'm in the unfortunate position of having to chance engines. I managed to get the old one out, but it was a bit of a wrestling match. I'm hoping someone has some fun, cool, time saving tips on how to get the engine BACK in the frame....lol. I've searched and found one interesting option....to lay the engine on it's side and sort of lay the bike over it. I saw a video on YouTube of a couple guys doing it, and they did manage to get it in back in the frame vertically.....so I assume it can be done. Is it just a matter of muscling it in there??? Any help/tips would be awesome!!!!

I wasted two hours on this - back it in at 90 degrees - with the exhaust ports facing you and then turn it when it is in the frame.
The manual is defective in not explaining this!

My old threads on Junior and the West Seattle Bike Build have some pictures of removing and installing an engine.
With a couple helping hands, it only takes a few minutes. Removing the valve cover does give you some extra space to work with if doing it on your own.
Motor goes in head first. Rotate clockwise a little. Raise so back of engine clears the back motor mount. Rotate clockwise so it is straight and lower so the rear motor mount is in place. Insert the two rear motor mount bolts. You're done. Insert the front mounting bolts and spacers at your leisure.
4 people in under a minute - really!
2 strong guys: one on each side to lift motor.
One sitting on frame to look down and guide the back of the motor as they lift.
4th person (optional) on left side to shove in the rear 2 engine bolts (or serve beers or both)
Yep - the motor went into HUHSKY in under a minute without scratching the newly painted frame. Once the 2 rear bolts are in you're home free. They hold in the motor in place just fine.

Removing the alternator covers and the rotor, and the valve cover and cams help a lot too ...
