Title: Oil Leaking from 2 Places
Post by: phoenix117 on March 12, 2014, 06:25:45 PM
Over the past week I noticed that I had an oil leak, nothing significant only a few drops. I had a quite look around and it's not a leak in the gear shifter and by cleaning it all out and cleaning the underside I found that the leak was from these two places. Any ideas of where they would be and what parts I would need to fix it? I'm pretty new to the mechanical side but I'm keen to start getting my hands dirty and learning more about my bike. The website won't let me post the other picture as it is too big, I'll try to get a smaller version if need be but the first picture should be enough.

Clean it spotless.
Dry it.
Baby powder it.

You will easily see the source of the leak.

Try tightening those bolts.  They're prone to leak since they are the bolts for the oil filter and drain.  Use a torque wrench though.

I wouldn't tighten any thing until to verify the leak first like adidasguy said, the oil filter cover studs can snap if over tightened. Do what adidasguy said, and if its the oil filter cover than it might be a good time for oil and  a filter change. I think all new filters come with gaskets.
