Title: Engine parts, where to buy?
Post by: Watcher on March 14, 2014, 07:48:02 AM
So my GS500 has been in pieces since early winter.  Was running a little odd, carbs and jetting weren't the issue, and I decided to open up the guts and take a look.

Found out that the valve springs were all worn out, and the cylinder sleeves could use some touching up.  While I was in there I did a port and polish job on the head and kind of stopped there, now that its nearer to riding season I need to start rebuilding.

So I need new valve springs/keepers/etc, and I may need oversized rings or piston heads depending on how much my guy needs to take off of the cylinder sleeves.
Don't need new valves, and my guy is going to lap them for me.

Where can I get that kind of stuff?  Any website?  Or any brand to look for either there or on EBay?

Anywhere that has OEM parts.
Not that bad a price for something you only want to do once.
Don't even consider trying to go cheap.

Is BikeBandit a good website for this stuff?

I'm also going to need some gaskets, obviously.  Is it worth it to get a complete pack or am I better off just getting the ones I need?  All I did was take apart the valve cover, cylinder head, and cylinders so all I need is 3 or 4 top end gaskets.

I wouldn't go with Bikebandit - there are cheaper places out there. Check out Boulevard Suzuki.

Do you have a link?  I can't find it on Google.

When I put "BoulevardSuzuki.com" in the URL box I got taken to a place called Parts Outlaw.  They seem cheaper than BikeBandit.

That's weird...... they must have lost their site or something. But go with the sites suggested by Adidas or Jack. For your info though, pretty much any original part needs to be shipped from Japan, so look at the shipping costs and delivery times.

Well I kind of compared prices on every single site listed and that PartsOutlaw.com site I found is the cheapest so far.

Has anyone used them before?
