OK. I needed more ink for a printer. $50! I can buy a refurbished printer at Fry's for $40 that includes ink.
Needed more label tape to tag things in the bike cave. $25 for a roll. New label printer with same roll oftape $29.
WTF?
There needs to be an investigation into price gouging. When you can buy a new device with ink or tape cheaper than replacement tape - someone is gouging us on prices.
Stop whinging, it was your Mr Kodak who started all this type of cost crap in the first place........
The printer companies could give away the printers to trap people into buying their ink...
You need to read this...

As for Dymo tapes - yeah, those things are amazingly expensive - They probably charge so much because they know most people who order them aren't usually the ones paying for them..
I buy refill kits off ebay for my printers. I print a lot of instructions, shipping labels, ect
I often wonder the same thing. I will say one thing, the replacement cartridges are sometimes much bigger...i.e., more ink. You get a little to start out (enough for about ONE picture), then it runs out, then you have to go buy expensive ink.
got 2 dell AIW s with dried cartridges. if I must print something I usually go to someone that has one and pay them for its use. I don't use a printer often enough to pay these kinds of prices, I used to reload but that can be messy
The best value is a B&W laser printer such as brother. Cartridges can be found cheap online.
I've previously heard that when the cartridges aren't used often they just dry up and adding a little solvent gets them going again for a reasonable amount of time. Any truth to that? Seems logical to me.
