Me again, sorry for any inconvenience.
My air intake box is cracked fairly good, thinking of replacing it with the filter.
what's the pros an cons of this approach and do I need to jet it?
Also I opened up the right carb and it's a lil grungy so I was planning on cleaning it up, I've done a carb on a few different cars so I think I may be able to handle it.
if I do the filter and jet it what would need to be done further?
if you get rid of the airbox completely, you can get a K&N Lunchbox filter. Using either the lunchbox or the pods, you will have to rejet your bike because they stock is already lean. Putting a filter straight on the carbs would make it extra lean. So get bigger jets to make up for it
Jet sizes depends on mods such as slip on ,full stainless , standard exhaust and what air filter
Such as standard , k n drop in , k n lunchbox or k n pods
All different variations require different set ups . Theres a chart in the gs wiki that explains different variations that work
Thanks for the info.
It's there an up side on lunch box over pods or vice verse
Dropin allows more air than standard filter but it keeps the air box
Lunch box has 2 ports to fit onto both carbs and allows even more air in but you have to remove
Airbox
And for pods it has an individual cone filter per carb and ollows even more air in than the lunchbox but again you need to loose the airbox.
I personally have a lunchbox coupled with a full stainless dekavic exhaust system and a full rejett its runs better and accelerates better than standard and the growl off the lunchbox is just sex

Is an exhaust upgrade necessary when changing over? and my air box is cracked so I'll be removing it
Duck tape it man.
Cool.
Buddha.
You dont need to upgrade exhaust just jet it up according to your chosen filter .
You could just repair your airbox or buy a cheap replacement off ebay
lol no duct tapping, figured I'd start with some light mods and move up from there.
gunna start stripping her down in a few days and do some cleaning and upgrading
Mines in need of a swing arm respray but im goin to wait till the warmer weather turns up
Then im goin to strip it down clean it up , zinc or red oxide primer and then topcoat of matt black and all should be good .

Sounds good, I'll be doing a zinc prime with a matte olive green on the frame, the body components was looking either a matte black or an off shade of a gray. not sure yet.
Looking for a some what military theme.
Matt olive green sounds good bud!!
Id be interested in seeing tha :thumb:t
Oh I wish I could find that pic of the military/army looking GS... Had grenade lookin' grips and the part of the frame that runs along tank had a bullet belt down both sides. Ammo boxes for side case (not that original, but obviously works well for the theme)... One of the coolest builds I've seen for a GS - Just not sure it was this site I saw it on now that I can't find it

working with my budget hopefully she'll be presentable next month. going to start ordering some cosmetics i.e. mirrors, blinkers, new light and such.
going to have my brother inlaw do some airbrushing on the tank not sure the exact theme but it will be along the military. Got the idea from a military riders site militarybikers.org.
Not sure how to upload pix here so these are some pics I have in my online photos.
Be honest does she look like good potential

So long as it runs... There are a million things that would help that bike, so YES, there is plenty of potential! ;)
