Congrats, you lucky, lucky (you know the rest) :thumb:
I want a long term update.
what size is that bike? I dont think I've seen it before..
I dig the undertail exhaust! :thumb:
it's a 600, made by Yamaha. check it out on their site:

Drop dead gorgeous, Nikita... We expect ride reports!! :thumb: :thumb:
I'm jealous. Very nice.
Dead sexy! I want one.
Did I mention that I hate you?
No wait...I mean nice bike.
I have been loving the look of the bike since they first showed it. The only bad reports I read were the hard to read tach and a possilbe problem with a hesitation in the fuel injection. Did you put your name in for one or did the dealer have a few? Please make sure you give us an update.
Wayne
I dont wanna sound like a dumbass but what's the stats:
-HP?
-1/4 times?
-Top end speed?
Looks tight!
I think HP is 95 at the crank (correct me if I'm wrong.)
That's the baby i've been eyeing....600cc detuned R6 engine..very well reviewed......hopefully i'm next on line for that one... :thumb:
yeah. about 95 at the crank. 87 usable.
I'm not sure about the 1/4 mile times. or top speed. the speedometer is all-digital, and I'm babying the bike until it's broken in.
as far as the tach being too hard to read; :guns:. I can read it just fine. it might be a preferential thing from one rider to the next. even if it was too hard to read, there is also a digital tach.
fuel injection problems: none as far as I can tell. of course, I haven't been pushing the bike to the limits.
I'll give a short-term ride update after my little day trip tomorrow. (short highway trip to the OK border and back.) :)
alright, here is it, my short-term ride update. it's by no means meant to be professional, just basically the things I've noticed about the bike. Also, this is my second bike, so take everything with a grain of salt.
Fit & Feel:
Compared to the GS, the FZ is bigger. On the GS, I could firmly put both feet down and be able to bend my knees. On the FZ, I can't do that. It's almost like I'm standing and holding the bike with my legs. I'm about 6' with a 32" inseam, by the way.
The riding position is somewhat similar to the GS. More upright than something like a gixxer, but there is still a lean to it. Still comfortable, though. One thing I did notice was that after about 80 miles, the seat made my butt numb. An aftermarket replacement will almost be necessary for the long cross-country tours.
With the GS, my hands used to get numb after about 20 miles of highway riding. I didn't notice that with the FZ. Of course, my GS didn't have bar ends.
Handling:
The FZ is awesome in turns. It really is quite flickable, with no pogoing whatsoever. Obviously, the more experienced riders might notice something less than stellar about the handling, but it works very well for me.
Under emergency braking conditions, the front end didn't dive forward too much. The brakes are quite adequate, not grabby and easy-to-lock-up, and not soft and loose.
Shifting is quick and precise. But, the gears are still new, so shifting feels a bit stiff.
Acceleration is......amazing. The engine is still being broken in, but I'm sure you can hit 60+ in second gear, especially with 13.5 as the redline point. Right now, the fastest I can go is about 80 (keeping it under 7k in sixth gear).
yeah...so I guess that's about it. I'll update after I hit the 1000 mi mark. feel free to ask any questions. :thumb:
Sweet bike... I love it. If it weren't for the great deal on the 929, the FZ6 or the 919 would have been my bike.
Nobody has asked this yet, so what insurance category did it fall in? Does it have a sportbike surcharge to it or is it in the same class as the SV650?
Damn... even though my 929 is brand new, there's just something about getting a new, NEW bike.
Barna
SWEET Bike! 8)
I wish my SVS had a centerstand. :(
unfortunately, since it's a completely new model, most of the major insurance companies don't have data on it yet, or have completely miscatagorized it. my GS was under Allstate and I only paid $400 a year for liability only. If I went with Allstate for the FZ, then my insurance would have jumped up to $6 or $7000 a year (enough for a new bike!) :bs:
why the high rate? because of the sportbike surcharge and it was misclassified as a high-end sportbike. as in, the same category as a Hayabusa. :guns:
luckily, my dealer got me a quote from Progressive that was $1200 a year for full coverage. well, not quite for me. I had to have a cosigner when I went to get the bike (no credit) so the insurance is under my brother's name. (mid 30s, excellent credit, owns a home, no points on license.) with me as a secondary driver, the insurance is doubled.
oh yeah. I think someone in the other thread asked if I put my name in for the bike. I didn't. I just had been saving up for a new bike since the GS seized....
Wow...based on what you said.....i'm 6 inches shorter than you so both my feet may not even hit the ground at a stop. Not a good thing for me. A bloody deal breaker even.... :x Still it's good to know. From what i've read in a few places it seems like a really good bike. Ride safe.. :thumb:

Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention but I swear I remember being able to flat foot the FZ6 at the cycle show and I'm only 5'8" :dunno:
Sweet looking bike. Have fun with it. :thumb:

you know what.... you may be right. I'll have to doublecheck it because I may be wrong about the height.
and thanks again, I'm going to have tons of fun with it.
dont rub it in, we just got 6 inches of new snow in minnesota today with more on the way
nice bike :thumb:
The one at the show could have been lowered.
Congrads again dude!
The $tealer here in Columbus has a Blue FZ6...
If I didn't already have a great YZF, I would have a cronic case of "newbikeitis".
:x
The one at the show was sat on 1000 times so the suspension softened just a little. Maybe yours will soften up a little bit after you ride it for a couple weeks.

All I have to say is:
In Soviet Russia, the bike rides you! :o
Sweet piece of machinery! I've got envy! 8)
Did they have any naked versions of the FZ6 at the dealer you went to? Or am i hallucinating...there IS a naked version coming out, right? RIGHT? :?

I finally got my ass and went and found a nicely paved country road with some nice turns. all I can say is
wow, I love my FZ.
as for a naked version, nope, sorry the US won't be getting a naked FZ6 :( . I definitely would have bought it myself instead of the faired one. but I'm happy with it as it is. :thumb:
