Title: 2009 Gs500F Decals/Stickers?
Post by: Shinji on April 03, 2014, 08:09:44 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am a new owner of a 2009 GS500f and I was wondering if anywhere out there I could buy new stock/oem decals/stickers ?

It would appear that the previous owner left the bike out in the sun and now the back decals are sun cracked. I would just remove them if I wasn't worried about there being "fade marks" under the stickers.

Any suggestion other than just dealing with them?

Thanks to everyone in advanced!

The stickers are available through the dealer or OEM parts warehouse, though not cheap.  They are referred to as "tape sets"

The decals were removed from mine.  (Previous owner didn't like the "purple / pink" colors).  I only noticed a very slight difference where the decals were and after I used some light compound and clay bar, you can't even tell they were there.  (However, mine only has 7K on it and was always in the garage so the paint was in good shape).

If your paint is in good shape (and you don't care for the decals), before buying new ones, you could always try removing them, compound, clay bar and wax.  Depending on how well the paint held up, you may not even notice where they were.

Ps. don't make the mistake that some people do and try to go over the old decals. I had a friend do that and even though there was only very minimal cracking, the new decals developed the same look very quickly.
