Title: Not happy Jan !!!
Post by: Golly on April 06, 2014, 07:15:35 PM
All I did was remove carbie bank. Install new float needles and seats adjusted float height a tad. New fuel lines and clamps and using the clear tube it seams to be at the right height. When I fired it up I heard a pop...now only right cylinder is running and with 2.5 turns out in the air fuel screw its chuggin and white/blue smoke....About to part this bike out its that fustrating hahahah

CDI and coil were replaced not even 200kms ago

Previous history and model year would be helpful.  Was it running before pulling the carbs?  Why did you decide to replace the needle valves?  Are the valves in the top end of the engine adjusted correctly? ....

The fuel lines shouldn't be the problem.

White/blue smoke = unburned fuel, which can be as a result of an overly rich mixture, no spark, or valves stuck resulting in no compression (thus no combustion).

Since you heard a pop, I'm guessing one of the valves has gone.  This is certainly fixable, but involves removing the cylinder head.

I'd probably suggest pulling the carbs and exhaust; while manually turning over the engine you can look into the inlet/exhaust ports to see if the valves are working right.

1990e with a later model block older head. Have had issues with flooding and sudden shutdown issues on a run one night. Very humid night. Carbies have all new jets put in throughout.  120/40 and new seals though carbies. No valve knocking motor sounds good. Had Cdi and coil replaced. New plugs...was running on two cylinders the night it flooded and just just down. Would wait 20 mins then get it going again only to shutdown again 2kms down the road. So got it home and new needle and seats put in...now when started had the issue in the first post.
