Title: Front tire and brake
Post by: Nocluejoe on April 11, 2014, 01:43:54 PM
So I pulled the front tire off to paint it when I put it back on I noticed that the 2 brake pads are rubbing the rotor constantly I spun the tire and squeezed the break and it stop immediately I took it off the lift and rode it I can't feel it rubbing or hear it. Brakes work fine.

What can I do I already pulled the brake off and the pads put them back on and it was fine could my lever be to tight? What could it be

It's perfectly normal. There's nothing to actually push the pads away from the rotor, so they always contact it a little bit.

The only problem would be if your brake pads were getting tighter on the rotor without any lever pressure - it means you have water mixed in your brake fluid.

Is squeaking when the pads rub against the rotor normal?

Normal......perhaps. A little bit of brake dust can cause a squeak. But there are wear indicators that can cause a squeak too (at least on cars - I dunno about the GS5). Check your pad thickness, and pull the caliper off and spin the wheel to make certain it's the brakes.

It's definitely the brakes squeaking

If you pull the pads look at the groves cut into them, if the friction material is almost flush with grove than you need to replace the pads
