Hey Folks. So i know you guys are going to break my balls here but definitely the serious feedback, instructions, tips to get my seat off without the aid of teh seat lock cable connected. Long story short, I had to take off the seat fairing & disconnect the lock cable, then I placed the fairing back, I didnt connect the locking cable & i put the seat back on. :oops:
I searched the threads I found this thread, "Topic: Break a motorcycle seat lock," and as funny as it was to read, most folks mentioned to pull on the cable, or gun powder. Well in this situation it won't help me so what's my other options to get the seat off and hopefully not break the seat lock?

Maybe you can pull/push/cut the inner fender out of the way so you can reach the latch with a bent rod or something. Here is a pic so you can have an idea of what it would look like if you hadn't screwed up! :icon_lol:

Nope! Don't cut a thing! Just grab a socket wrench and unbolt your fender. You can see the bolts above the tire. Then just use a small Allen wrench to pull the seat lock open.
Not that I'd know how to do this... Lol.
Yeah the stock fender just bolts on from underneath; with that out you can manually actuate the seat release. I've never run into that situation and would be a bit more screwed with my undertail; but I've had it all apart. Also the newer plastics have slots on the sides; you might be able to feed a hooked wire (or lockout tool) through that to release the seat.
Goes to show how important a simple/correct sequence can be.

as a mechanic, one of the most simplistic/common mistakes to make which results in big headaches is this:
1) you have a bolt in a very tight spot next to some kind of obstruction (frame rail, engine case, etc) that a normal ratchet won't fit into
2) you grab your trusty gear wrench w/o a reversible switch
3) you start backing out the bolt with your wrench until it the bolt head and your wrench hit the obstruction without fully unscrewing the bolt
4) now your non-reversible wrench is stuck and you either have to cut off the bolt and/or wrench, or you're stuck spending the next few hours disassembling everything around your work area to get your wrench and bolt out
it's all in the details lol
Been there, Done that. Lucky me, I was able to inturn enough to get the socket off, and needle nose out the bolt.

On topic, I locked my seat down with my keys under there once. I was able to just bend up the seat in the back enough to fish them out. I wonder if you could do the same thing and fish the wire into place from the back and then manually pull?
I wanted to thank everyone who took the time to respond to my topic and I finally got around to disengage this seat lock. All pointers were valid ones but i found this to be the quickest and simplest method for those in the future. Please see my video for a complete walk through. I hope this helps others in the future.
