I did a search and couldnt see anything relevant so I will ask.
At the moment I am using Maxthon but am having no end of trouble logging into forums
I was wondering which Browser everyone recommends for forums etc
The reason I am using Maxthon is because all the extra thing it can do over any others I seem to have tried
The nearest I have found is google chrome BUT I dont want my computer owned by google with google+ and youtube etc
Any thoughts

You could try Opera. Similar to Chrome, but it's a little more standardized than whatever you said above.

Cool I will go have a lookyloo :)
Firefox with adblock plus is awesome. Firefox tends to suck up memory, but not that big of an issue today with systems running 4-8gb

I have used Chrome for years.
Security flaw on netscrape atm. Which I use but will use firefox for now. Or android
I use Chrome because mainly I have a Chrome book and I like that all of my devices are linked. I enjoy seemless integration of course I set privacy filters plus and add extra security features. I'm pretty confident in my Google account not getting hacked. If having your info spread everywhere makes you think you're safer you're not. It is easier for me to keep one account safe vs 7 separate small vulnerable accounts. I use authenticator, a dnd add on to block ads, and lookout to protect my phone in case of theft or loss since it is the key to many things for me.. You type my password in wrong 5 times my phone will take a picture of you and e-mail it along with GPS coordinates. I can also remotely lock or wipe my phone.
I have also used Opera in the past and not too bad. I don't use IE at all don't even remotely like.
