Title: Anyone have experience with aftermarket keyed gas caps?
Post by: Watevaman on April 19, 2014, 07:46:49 AM
Last summer I ended up breaking my stock gas cap, so I picked up one of those CNC aluminum keyless gas caps off of eBay. Well, after having problems with it getting stuck from time to time I've been looking on eBay again for a keyed gas cap to replace it. There's a bunch of these Chinese ones with keys that say they fit GS500s, although most say they fit 01 and 02 models, but I don't remember the gas cap changing at all during the history of the GS500.

Stuff like this is $20 vs the $100+ it'd be from a dealer, so I was wondering if anyone has one and can comment on if it works out ok for you?

Not the same key blank.
I have an ignition which is after market that also has the not-the-same as Suzuki key blank.

I don't mind having to carry two keys. I was more interested in if they're reliable caps.

I've seen some. They seemed OK.
If you don't need a key, I love Roaring Toyz keyless gas caps. Spendy but really nice.

In 1998 I put one of those caps in my GS ... that was ... well before china was known for high quality merchandise ... before ...

It worked OK, I still have it somewhere ...

Cool.
