Sorry if this was the wrong place to post but I looked over the help section / forum rules etc and couldn't quite find the answer.
I joined the forum about 2 weeks back. (Only posted a few times. 1 or 2 questions and a few replies).
A few days ago I was not able to log in. I got a message that my user name GS4me was incorrect. After multiple attempts, I attempted to use the password reset and enter my username, I got the same message - something to the effect of "no user by that name" or something like that.
I also got the same message when I entered my email address? I don't believe I posted anything incorrect / against the rules in the few posts that I did "post".
Tonight I re-registered under the same name (GS4me), and got approved again.
Is there some sort of "automated security", or possibly an admin that deleted my username for some reason? I know a lot of forums I belong to try to prevent spamming etc and I figured maybe it was some sort of "automated thing"??
I just wanted post here in case it somehow happened again. Please feel free to remove / delete the post if it's incorrect for this section and thanks for the help.
I remember recently the forums were down for a while; possibly there was some data corruption and they had to restore a backup, which happened to be from before you registered.
I think it has to do with discouraging spammers, you have to post three times before you're a regular member. First 2 posts are marked guest and third one is number 1 so you should be good to go now. No need to delete or move it.
Hey thanks,
I went back and was checking my posts to see if they were still there. Looks like I posted about 9 times or so. (Including replies to posts etc).
Maybe you're right about the back-up / corruption. At first I thought it may be that I used my Yahoo email address. (I know one other forum I belong to won't allow Yahoo, Gmail address - which I can understand). However, they won't let you even register from "the get go" with one of those free email addresses.
Hopefully I should be in good shape. It's been about 15 years since I've ridden and when I saw the GS500e I thought it would be a great bike to get back on and re-tune the skills a bit. I learned on an older 450 so the GS500e was really "comfortable" to start riding again, without going crazy. (at 46 years old, I have most of the "crazy" out of my system. - As far as 2 wheels go anyway...

Don't bet on it GS4me, I got my first bike and started riding at age 52 and managed to squeeze in 400k miles of riding since then doing my wildest riding around ages 68-72 but I'm riding like a good senior citizen should now. :thumb:

Ha! I hear ya'. My wife is about 4 years older than me and a few weeks back we got AARP cards in the mail! I said "how the heck did I get one"?? She said " Oh.... I signed up and you're the spouse so I signed you up too" !!
I haven't ridden too much since I was about 30 years old or so (only rode in nice weather / pleasure riding for a few years - and of course, dirt bikes when I was a kid). Needless to say, the wife isn't too pleased that I've taken "this hobby" back up again but it's amazing how everything comes back. (reflexes are a little slow but "returning nicely" and I signed up for the MSF advanced rider class again just to sharpen the skills a bit).
After reading your post.... who knows.... maybe that 1300 is right around the corner! >:(
