Title: LEDs in instrument panel not working
Post by: Shinji on April 24, 2014, 01:26:51 PM
Okay,

So I recently installed some LED from lights SUPERBRIGHTLEDs.com (the ones recommended by the gstwinnwiki) in my Speedometer and Tachometer because one of them were originally burnt out.

When I first installed them I tested to make sure they turned on and they both did and they looked great!

Afterwards I installed an LEDGLOW lighting kit for the chassis and afterwards I verified everything was working fine. I rode around for a little bit and as it was getting dark I realized they were no longer working and the tachometer light would come on and off randomly.

Now my LEDGLOW is working flawlessly and I am assuming thats because it is directly connected to the battery, but both my speedometer and tachometer lights are no longer working!

I am not a mechanic or electrician but i am guessing that there is a fuse I blew somewhere perhaps?

Also if it helps with the diagnosis I used nitrate gloves to install them.

Thanks you all for your help!

Well, there's only one fuse on the bike. So, if it went, everything would stop working. What I would do is test the sockets with the old bulbs, if you still have them, and see if they still work. I have the same LED bulbs in my car dash, and 2 of them randomly went out on me.

If all of them went out, you unplugged them.
Though at first it was a loose connection: on and off randomly usually always means that.
Look in your gauge cluster - there is a 2 pin connector for the gauge lights.

Thank you so much guys!

I'll get back to you hopefully on Monday with my results!
