Hello i was wondering if the type 2 bars from suburban machinery are a good buy. I dont like how high the stock bars are and want lower bars. But dont want clip ons cuz from what i hear is they are a hassle. And i know these type 2 bars are rather spendy. Like 165 and thats not including shipping apparently. So was jus wondering if they low enough for the price. I wanted type 1 bars but they dont carry those anymore. Anyone here have them and what are your thoughts? Or anyone selling type 1 or 2 bars? Thanks guys!
I got 'em....I LOVE 'em......
I'm not sure what you mean by "low enough"...they are considerably lower than stock...but riding position is not all that radical IMHO....just a nice improvement over stock.
The bars are 100% TOP QUALITY......Due to the quality and the improvement in riding position they were worth the money to me.
They are tricky to get to fit right on the GS 500....the brake reservoir has to be put at a slight angle...at first this concerned me...but it works fine....
The bars are drilled for the levers to fit right on.
They may interfere with the gauges I had to trim the little plastic end pugs on the bars where they hit the gauge cluster.....I also had to make a clearance notch on the gauge cluster mount to allow extra room for the banjo fitting on the master cylinder.

Ok if i may ask did u buy them from their site? If so how much did u pay for shipping? And by lower i ment the bars. Since the stock ones rise a bit higher. I not lookin to completely hug the gas tank i would jus like for a more aggressive more sporty feel. Plus i am planning on getting a double bubble as well. I feel too upright. My buddy has a 04 kawi zzr600 with stock clips and his feels pretty good. But im not expecting it to be that low. Jus a lower riding feel than stock. And yea i figured it may need a little work to get em on but i dont mind shaving a little off the caps and gauge cluster to make em fit.
Yeah I bought off the their web site.
yes, shipping charges...I can't remember how much.
For height...these bars are essentially flat...meaning no rise, like the stock bars rise.
I figure the stock bars rise say, 2", so with these you will be about 2" lower....
Slightly more "aggressive" riding style, but not laid down flat back...still fairly upright.
Nice compromise IMHO..
Somewhere on this site there is a link to a guy who tested all kinds of bars on a GS500..suburbans, clubmans, etc....he gives better details and dimensions

I have an old saying, "cry once, then be happy"
Meaning that you're gonna cry once when you pay the money for these bars...but you're gonna like them and be happy, soon forgetting about the cost.
If you buy cheap, crap bars, you're gonna cry once when you shell out the cash, and you're gonna cry again when you are not happy and have to buy another set!

That's why I made bars ... but it is time consuming and I no longer have access to the equipment and the welder ... It was $40 when I first made em, then I went to $45 ...
Maybe in a year or so I'll get back to them, probably after I buy a welder. The bars I made imitated the 89 clip on's ... and on the 04+, they imitated clip on's with banana bend handles.
Cool.
