Title: Touchup Paint?
Post by: GS Fan on April 27, 2014, 08:47:20 PM

I'm debating either having all farings painted professionally or touch up a couple spots around the bike.

Left side of the tank there is a few scratches and 3 inch dent.
Are we able to get exact match touch up paints?

If not, what is a reasonable cost to have tank and rear faring painted professionally?
I don't want to do either with a spray can.

Officially ColorRite.com is the only place where you can order paints/touch-ups matched to the OEM paint codes; though the paints are actually made by PPG.  ColorRite re-brands them and has exclusive distribution agreements with the big bike manufacturers.

The truth of the matter is that ANY PPG paint distributor has the codes in their system and can mix them up for you and will charge substantially less than ColorRite.  I can walk into any PPG automotive paint store (e.g. Colors Inc. in the PA area) and get matched paint in aerosol (rattle can), urethane, waterborne, etc form.

Another interesting note is that Harley-Davidson is extremely secretive about their paint codes; but if you can get the dealer to look up the exact paint name using the VIN, then the PPG stores can mix exact match paints using the color name.
