Title: specs for riveting on new master link.
Post by: rexpepper651 on May 03, 2014, 09:01:29 AM
hello once again! i picked up my new d.i.d chain and rivet master link and ready to install it. i watched a video on breaking and installing new chains and the man in the video was talking about what the rivet should be crushed too measurement wise. i tried looking on the box and online but havent found what i needed. does anyone know off hand what the outer diameter measurement should be of the rivet after installation?

sorry for cluttering this place up but! i found the answer so if any one else is interested in this info here it is straight from D.I.D.

you have to first measure a link next to it to make sure you get the plate pressed on to the same measurement as the rest of the chain.
then use the rivet tool ( i got mine at harbor freight) and press the plate on to spec.
then you want to crush the rivet and measure it to make sure its with in specs! each chain manufacturer is different.

this is for the D.I.D chain

here is for RK chains. from RK themselves.
