Edit: Yeah, it was converted. Price is too high, I'd say 1500-1800 is fair. I thought originally that it was an OEM E type headlight bracket, which would be a pricey conversion, but it looks more like an ebay cheapo. (some are actually not bad quality, i put one on my bandit and its great.)

go look at it and see! why not?

It's a converted F model, it has the oil cooler.

The muffler has a few dings on it if you look at the second pic. So perhaps it was a F until something happened and then he made it an E. Question that "like NEW" status...

Read between the lines!

"street fighter" really means "I dumped the bike (several times) and f'ed up the fairings so I took them off."

So now I want you to buy my problem for a too high price........

I'd offer $1800

You can find plenty truly nice GS F models for the low $2000's

Without having to buy one which is mickey moused rigged.

Just MHO

That's really freaking high, I picked up my dumped 04 f with 8,000 miles for $1000, needed work but at least I know it's all good stuff

My guess is that he didn't do the work....bought it that way and something doesn't work quite right.

I don't really care but it would be interesting to see if it has a "regular" title or a "salvage" title.

Yea, it really is a lot to ask for a GS and a non-stock one at that.

Its a F-E conversion, very common ... I would still look if it has a salvage or regular title, but that usually means that insurance paid it off, vs not.
Cool.

Somehow, I have trouble seeing this as a "conversion"...to me it is the simple removing of valuable parts.  I consider that the value is therefore reduced considerably.

Now, turning an "E' model, into a fully faired bike...that would constitute a "conversion" and might justify a price increase if done up nicely.

Well, as they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"......

I personally like the look of the F model over the E....but.....I don't think the fairings do anything at all functionally beneficial....they are just for "style".....so for a design "purist" I can see liking the naked bike.

BTW...I just did an oil change..and I was cursing a bit... as I usually take off all the fairings to get in there...thinking I could do the oil change in 1/2 the time on a naked version!

I also always say, "when it comes to motorcycles, they make something for every taste....then the owner modifies it from there"...so Motorcycles are very personal....

Of course, for many years you could get either an F or an E....your choice!

Again, the bike in the ad sure looks nice in the photo, and has low miles........both ++'s

But I think we all agree that the asking price is a bit high....and I can't see converting an F to an E as in any way "adding" value...quite the opposite.

I just wonder how many are "converted" due to personal taste, or how many are converted because the fairings got trashed?

You have to remember that in ads, that is the asking price...anything can be negotiated.  Obviously the owner is going to start high.  All you can do is make a low offer and see what happens...maybe come to some fair agreement..

Before I got my GS500, I used to ride a little Honda, which was burning oil, so looking for a new bike.  I passed a Ninja 500 for sale on a front lawn, several times...the asking price on the sign was way too high, so I ignored.  Finally one day I stopped and looked...a guy comes out of the house..it was the owner's father....

I didn't even say I was interested and he immediately offered me the bike for $1000 less!   I pointed out some "problems" and he dropped another $500.   Then he said he just wanted the stupid thing out of his garage and I could make any offer, he's take it!

The bike was a little "rougher" than I wanted so I passed..but you never know until you ask about the price!

Usually cash talks, I like to put the money on what I'm buying either a truck or a bike, its worked out for me the past few times. They see the money and stop thinking
