Title: right side carb not getting fuel after cleaning
Post by: garyg199 on May 30, 2014, 08:49:38 AM
Not sure if my other post is dead but yeah I was having speed issues and decided to clean out my carbs and air box and now my bike won't start. Just saw that my throttle side float bowl is dry not draining any fuel so it's not getting any at all. What could cause this and how can I fix it?

Also can I spray carb cleaner somewhere in the carb to see if that'll make it fire up? I'm hoping it's not starting due to the carb not getting gas but I'm not sure. It's definitely cranking slower then before I took everything out.

Please help!

Whack the float bowl with the back end of a screwdriver and see if you can get fuel to drain.  Your float is stuck closed for some reason.  If whacking doesn't work, take the bowl off and have a look.

Ugh !! Why do I have nothing but problems ! I've only rode the b@!#$ twice!

Does that mean the needles stuck too?! Is that (hopefully) why I can't get it started because that sides dry?

Don't get too discouraged.  I knew nothing about carbs before I bought my bike and they were a total mess.  Now that I've learned how to work with them and got it all worked out, I've ridden the bike problem free for the past 2 and a half years.  Now I'm confident I can fix just about any carb problem.

Thanks man I appreciate that. I it's just crappy because the guy who sold me the bike didn't tell me about these issues and it's my first bike ykno. I wanna ride! Nothin but problems since I've gotten it...sucks.

Anyway I know it's just little tins hemming me up and they're most likely easily fixable however like you said I'm still learning everything so it is frustrating. I'm gonna try to give the bowl a nice whack and see if maybe something is just stuck like the needle and that's why there's no gas. Hopefully my battery will hold a charge long enough for me to crank her for a bit. Maybe I'll set the charger to jump and try that out.

Hoping I can get it running tonight! I'll keep you posted
Thanks again
