Checked the bike over today and noticed my original brakes are in need of replacement. The rear has a slight groove on the facing of the rotor and the front doesn't have a groove. Growing up working on cars I was always told to replace both pads and rotors so I'm looking on ebay and found a reasonably priced set of both front and rear with pads for $170 from Extreme shop. Has anyone dealt with this company? It's top rated and one heck of a price so just wanted to check with others. When I first started looking I had sticker shock of $200 for just the front rotor. I don't want to skimp because these are my brakes but I don't want to 'brake' the bank ha. :D

Most of us don't replace the rotor unless it, is warped, grove in it, thickness is to small, or is cracking
You can usually pick up a slightly used OE rotor for cheap of off eBay, stick with either OE or EBC for rotors, many people who use EBC for pads realize that they make a noise because of the rilles rotors it kinda bothered me at first but I got over it

+1 On slightly used OE brake parts from eBay, I resisted using eBay for years finally giving in about 3 years ago. Got a like new front rotor for my 02 for $50 that looked like it was never used before and replaced my original one at 94k miles. Checked my original one recently and it was about a mm below min 4 mm spec so don't wait that long but they're good for a lot more than 20k miles. Replaced front and rear calipers last year because they were worn and rusty from year around riding. Got calipers for $28 each including shipping with pads that looked like new. Got Tokico-HH front pads and SBS-FF rears which is friction grade of GS OE pads. Used a lot of those standard EBC Kevlar pads and turned my front rotor bright blue twice fading it out completely once in long hard downhill mountain riding. Get at least the EBC-HH pads which is OE grade now. My Brake/Chain log:

I shop eBay for OE parts that look like the best I can find and pay a little more but still a fraction of OE parts from dealer. I bought a EBC rear rotor for my 97 and it rusts every year from winter salt water, just didn't have enough nickel/chrome in it as OE ones that don't rust.
Ask The Extreme Shop for minimum thickness for each rotor....to me it looks like their deliberately concealing this.
