Title: FS and or Parting out '90 GS 500
Post by: dlighthill on June 07, 2014, 02:22:48 PM
I've got a '90 GS with practically new tires (have about 200mi on them). The tank has been cleaned and resealed, V & H exhaust, K & N pod filters (has been re-jetted for these), Sargent seat, SS lines front & back, Progressive springs, clip-ons, & windscreen. Extra parts include: spare forks (no springs), air box, factory seat, factory exhaust, and some other things (would need to look around to see what other parts are there).
It was running great until my dog knocked it over. It starts if you jump the starter. I just don't have the time, money, or energy to keep troubleshooting it.
I've put in around $1200 in her, but  I'd like to get $800.
(Photo doesn't show Sargent seat or windscreen)

Condition of the exhaust is good; light to minimal scratches - $100 + s\h
Clip on's we bought from The Buddha (not sure if they're OEM)

If alan_nc isn't interested, I am.  I have a F-16 sport and at full up position, the wind hits me right in the mouth area.  I assume this is the F-15 touring?  does the wind go over your helmet?

Yes, this is the touring. It creates a nice bubble over my helmet. Of course I guess it all depends on how tall you are.

If you decide to do a full part-out, how much for the tank?  And what did you "coat" it with?

Mine had been "Kreem"ed by PO but they didn't do a good job and it has continued to rust and the coating is now peeling off and I am afraid it has developed some pinholes.  I am toying with the idea of using the POR-15 system but if yours in in decent shape it could make my life alot easier.

Also, since I assume I would be getting the gas cap, I would also be interested in the seat lock and ignition as well (along with any keys) so that I could have a matched set.

Let me know if you decide to do a part-out.

I'm in need of the master cylinder for the front brake, the bracket that holds the tank down on the rear part of the tank, and the frame petcock. Can I get a picture and a price plus shipping to 65807 ?

If you decide to part the bike out, I would also be interested in the tank.  I understand that there are others in front of me so I would be happy to get in line.  Also looking for the front fender mounting brace.  Thanks
