Title: 2000 Color (Perl Novelty Black)
Post by: akh223 on February 02, 2004, 04:57:36 PM
Does anyone else with a 2000 bike notice a blue flake in the tank paint?  My bike seems to have a black paint from a distance, but up close in the sun it looks more like a black base coate with a dark metalic blue flake added to it?

Is it just me, or were they all like that?

Andy

My 2000 GS was already painted of greeny golden when I bought it, so I can't tell...

My "black" '96 had paint just like you describe.  I wouldn't be surprised if the same paint was used for both years.

"Pearl Novelty Black" sure sounds familiar....

My 97 has that paint.  I think it looks real cool.

Yeah! My 2000 GS has that paint! I love it. In fact, the woman who sold me the bike gave it to me for $300 less than someone else offered her because my boots have a black stretchy elactic side panel with the same blue fleck! Me and the bike were meant to be together. Sometimes it pays to be a girl :)

BTW, need to repaint the tank.  Anyone knows of an affordable place to deplicate the same kind of metallic flake effect using spray can?

Cheers,
Ed.

1998 - Pearl novelty black. It has the blue flake.
Ed89 - You might be able to get a body shop or macco to do the job inexpensively, i would at least get a qoute before you spend alot of time and effort trying to duplicate that color. You could probably get cans of black metal flake at Pep Boys or other Auto parts store. Best of luck with the job!
