Title: audio-only bluetooth speaker?
Post by: Erika on June 10, 2014, 07:11:26 PM
Does anybody make bluetooth headphones without the microphone and stupid giant clip on battery? They make them for snowboarders like this...

These won't work in a mc helmet, though. I don't really want to transmit or talk... just audio-only. Earbuds are illegal here... so I can't use those. I don't want an entire bluetooth communications system that costs too much and comes with too much stuff to clip on or glue to my helmet.

I bought a blue tooth headset on eBay for 40 dollars from china but it is actually one of the best things I have boughten from china very well put together it comes with a mic I'm sure you could cut it off if you really want to.

Also the headset doesn't require glue comes with soluble sided tape

I did post in your GPS thread regarding my setup and options, but hadn't seen this one yet...
My post from that thread:http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=67415.msg812118#msg812118

But to add to those thoughts with what you mention here... I don't really see a way around a battery externally mounted somewhere.  You will need a way to turn off/on and so forth at a minimum.  And most of these devices have buttons to play/stop, and volume control... seems standard on any Bluetooth headset devices, mic or not.  Generally, the battery is just the most logical place for those controls... the one you link to I imagine would be rather large.. certain larger than they appear in the pics... also, I don't think you would want battery inside a helmet anyway - batteries get hot when you use them, no matter what kind they are  :dunno_black:

I will add that the UClear is probably the most simple install out there for any MC Bluetooth device I have seen, and you don't have to permanently attach any part of it with double sided tape or glue; it has a very sturdy clip you can use for the battery/controller, and the speakers can use Velcro that work on your helmet interior well.

sena communications might have something that you're looking for. my fiancee' and i have the SMH5 with boom microphones so we can speak to each other via intercom, but i think they might sell something that is just a bluetooth unit and speakers.
