Last week I posted on a 91 GS500 that's been sitting in my garage basically unloved - and not started or run...in 5 years.
Today I would spin the Wheel of Destiny and see if it would start. :dunno_black:
Went to Fleet Farm today and pick up a battery & dropped it in. Added air to the tires and pumped out the old fuel and put in some $3.86 per gallon 2014 fuel.
Turned ignition to on...(lights!) turned the petcock to PRIME then to ON... pulled int the clutch lever....hit the start button and...IT STARTED! :woohoo:
Noticed fuel dripping from the fuel overflow tube, :o a sure sign of a stuck float. >:( Rapped on the float bowls with a screwdriver handle :technical: and the dripping stops. :icon_razz:
Ran a little rough for a bit but started to smooth out and after a few blips of the throttle it started to run a little better. Took it out of the driveway and down the street which it seemed to like 'cause it ran better still.
Got back to the driveway and after dropping a little of Chevron's Techron into the gas tank and a few more neighborhood runs it's running better still.
Now to do some more maintenance...
Cool...you dodged the obligatory carb clean out bullet! :2guns:
Techron is good stuff as long as you don't go over 1oz per gallon :thumb:
Good news. Sounds like it needs a few more short / close to home test runs and then an nice long cruise! :D
