Title: WTB 89-99 gas tank/WTS extra parts
Post by: oz353 on July 07, 2014, 01:53:37 PM
hey gals and pals. i got a little mad that someone stole my riding gloves off my bike at my friends house and punched my gas tank... big dent.
so.... who has one for an E model in decent to excellent condition?
i have loads of other parts i am willing to throw in to keep cost down.
i have one parts bike and two spare engines. both spare engines need cylinder jugs and piston rings, one engine needs a crank due to one end has a broken bolt and has been ground down (graveyard engine). i pretty much have one complete parts bike.

so if anyone needs parts let me know what you need and ill see if i have it and what condition its in.

Hi Oz...
I wish i had great news for you but to come by a nice tank for that era bike seems nearly impossible. I just had to bite the bullet with my 89 and buy a tank from 2005 (even those are hard to find). I hope it helps you, I know there are great members here who seem to work miracles so here is hoping ;)

thanks phillip.

i suspected as much, so i called around and a local salvage yard has quite a few from what they told me. they said anywhere from 200 to 250 depending on condition. i think that is my best option.

so the second half of my subject is still valid. if anyone is looking for parts... let me know what you need. ill tell you if i have it what condition its in and post some pics.

I have one in teal blue from a 95, but not selling yet until I find a replacement bike and decide what to do with the old.

I would think a dent removal expert should be able to fix a dent from a punch by accessing through the filler cap hole.  Worth a try, as I'll bet it would run $40-$60 instead of $200.
