Well...ok, now I am just starting to get confused. I just finished putting the carbs and valves stuff all back together after cleaning, adjusting and checking everything...and then this noise shows up. It's quite disconcerting to say the least. Only happens when the motor is coming off a rev and sounds like something is flopping around in there...hard to hear so again, it's as the motor spins down from a rev, more noticable toward the end of the video.
FWIW I have listened carefully twice and I can't hear anything wrong there other than excessive intake noise. It also seems a little slow on the throttle response or perhaps it is just my wrong impression. How does it ride? Does it feel normal? :dunno_black:
I just noticed a slight noise on mine, happens at the same time as yours, slightly different noise though. 20K on bike.
???????????????????
Sounds like normal valve shims with clearance to me.

Interesting, cause I just did my valves too!
That is the exact noise/knock I am having with mine. Recently bought it with a little over 4k miles. It's a '93. Should I be less concerned about it? Just stick with a valve adjustment?
I noticed that my engine also makes more noises than it used to when I had no valve clearances to speak of. I've heard that it's when you don't hear anything that you have a problem.
Sounds like a hormal GS500 to me, if there's a trace of valve noise there and it's from the exhaust valves that's good news.
Hey Jack, thanks. You are one of the guys I was hoping could help out here, (no offense to anyone else). I know you have a few years of expert knowledge over me, so I appreciate that.
