Title: Later tail on early frame
Post by: Cerberus73 on August 14, 2014, 04:31:48 PM
ok quick question.. does the later GS500F tailpiece plastics (more rounded with the air vents in side) fit directly onto the earlier GS500E frame without modification? and does the taillight swap over as well without mod? i'd also like to keep using the earlier seat if possible to keep costs down. i just prefer the look of the later tailpiece. and it seems the easiest most pain free method to change the look of my early GS (there is far more E models than F models here in the UK)

Make brackets and it does.
I have done one myself, that tail part is easy. However the seat will have to be the 01+ and the 01+ seat ideally needs the 01 tank.
Ben2go made a bunch of posts about the whole swap possibilities. New tail on old, old tail on new etc etc.
Look for one of em stickies.
Cool.

Sounds to much hassle and pricey, and the later tank is also smaller. thanks for the info Buddha. think i will just mode my old tailpiece to take a custom light and some Scoops frenched in.

What about an R1 tail light instead of a custom one?
