Title: Question about fork seal install
Post by: mimikeni on August 15, 2014, 11:50:37 AM
Hello Mates,
I'm going to be replacing my fork seals when they arrive in the mail.  What is the substance used to lubricate the seals to aid their insertion?
BTW, I stumbled across Patrick's (Addidasguy's) you tube channel.  Very entertaining. Sorry he isn't around to receive positive comments.

Well you lubricate it will a little fork oil... which you will have to replace as part of this so I hope you got some. I think the guide also mentions packing in a small amount bearing/axle grease on the bottom of the seal when inserting to make sure that little spring stays in place.

Put some oil on the inside sealing surface too. Don't slide it onto the fork tube dry.

Hi mate, have a look on utube at delboy's garage from the uk, very
clear no nonsence step by step seal changing vid. He takes all the
mystery out of doing this job yourself and saving money too.

Good luck
