Hey guys, have a 1993 gs500e with k&n lunchbox and a Vance and Hines full system, I had my carbs redone once when I got my mods by a race shop, and I'm slightly concerned. I've cleaned and recleaned and inspected the carbs but they seem to run rich, I'm fouling out regular and iridium spark plugs after about 100 miles, and the carbs only have a 127.5 main, 40 pilot and 2 turns out with the needle in the middle, I've tried running the recommended 150 main and 40piloy with 3 turns, but it ran like absolute shaZam!. I also do have a pingel high flow race petcock. Any help or advice is greatl appreciated.
My first step would be to check the float height. Simplest way is to attach a clear to the bottom of the carb on the carb bowl drain, bend the tube upward in a U-shape, open the petcock, and observe the level the gas rises to in the tube. The gas should be level with the carb bowl gasket. Make sure to wait a minute for the gas to fully rise in the tube, and make sure to check both carbs. If the gas is above the carb bowl gasket on either side or both- there's your problem, float height.
What type of jets did the shop put in it?... I'm guessing its a dynojet kit, probably stage three... They have different needles and jet sizing is different than stock mikuni.
Once we know some of this info, we can go from there.

I haven't gotten a chance to get back to the bike and check the float height, Ill do that soon, I do know that the shop did put mikuni jets in, they kept the pilot I put in , but the main is dropped to 127.5 I believe.
DJ Kit ??? 127.5 and lunch box with pipe if it even runs ... its cos its got DJ in it. You may want to try 135's with DJ. Put a pic of the needle if you like.
Cool.
