Title: Quick fork seal job question
Post by: mimikeni on August 29, 2014, 06:00:28 AM
I'm replacing the fork seals on my '96 GS500.  For those of you who have done this job, is it better to seat the bushing that sits beneath the washer and new oil seal first or can I just drive it into place when I'm seating the new seal?

I did my forks a couple of years ago and even when looking at the fiche I'm having trouble recalling what parts your talking about.  Try finding one of the GS500 videos on YouTube?  There are some really good resources there about performing standard repairs like this.  Sorry I can't help more.

I believe you can just drive it into place with the new seal. Not 100% positive though, I have a 2005 & remember that the older forks were a little different than mine.
