Title: Bike shuts off in the rain...
Post by: barkingsquirrel on September 02, 2014, 06:36:03 PM
Whenever I ride my bike in the rain (if its unavoidable... I dont like riding in the rain, period.), my bike shuts off when idling. Like, I will pull in the clutch, and close the throttle and it just dies. Similar to when my bike dies when it's out of gas or if the battery dies.

If I sit at a light in neutral, it will stay on, but the second I put it into first it stalls out. Anyone have any ideas?

I thought maybe it was an issue of something internally getting wet, or flooded carbs but I'm not sure. If I leave it for a few minutes, it will start back up again.

Anyone?

Could be many different problems but from your first 1st gear / stop issue I wonder if the rainwater is not shorting your sidestand interlock switch, so you bike thinks you have the stand down and then cuts the engine when you are in gear. Try spray the switch with wd40 and see if it improves.
