Title: question on centerstand installation WRT exhaust pipes
Post by: Nick on February 05, 2004, 12:19:08 AM
I am trying to install a centerstand on my 1998 GS.  It looks like I'll have to loosen the exhaust pipes in order to clear enough space to insert the centerstand hinge bolts.  If I unbolt the pipes from the engine, will I have to replace a gasket?  Thanks!

No, unless they are rotten. I reused mine with no ill effect. They're cheap anyway, I think like $5.

Normally you don't have to completly remove the exhaust.  If you remove the mounting bolt on the passenger peg bracket, you can pull the pipe down far enough to install/remove the centerstand.
