Hello everyone,
Had the opportunity to experience a lowside for the fist time this afternoon. Looking over the damage, the worst of it (I think) is around the contact breaker cover and the mounting points on the crankcase cover. One problem is that the area on the crankcase cover with the threads is broken off, and another is that one of the bolts snapped off. Here's a pic:

Questions:
1. Should I try and extract the broken bolt and secure the contact breaker cover with just 2 screws? Anyone done this? Any rattling or other issues?
2. If so, any recommendations on how I can extract it? If it wasn't so deep I'd slot it with a dremel and use a flat head; doesn't seem ideal in this scenario.
Thanks.
I would do whatever it takes to get it running (remotely safely......no duct tape please!). But I would replace the entire clutch cover & gasket with one from eBay.
I'd try to get that bolt out, to be honest. That's just me, though. You can probably just use a screw extractor. I can't imagine it would be under much torque if the head is no longer on it.
As far as that sheared hole goes, you could try something like QuikSteel, then tap it for a new bolt.
Or you could get a new clutch cover like Rich said. That's probably the best and easiest route lol. There's one up right now on eBay for $23.
Thanks for the comments guys. I'll see if I can find a clutch cover locally or on eBay.
I have one, but I dont even think I can ship it to you for the price of the one for $22 on ebay. Better snag that up!
