Hey everyone. Today im celebrating a deal for a 91 GS. Its got 15k miles on it and the owner previous could not get it running. I looked at it and found the choke system had been bent. Straightened it and got it up and running. Only other thing i found wrong was some moisture in the fuel lines. I am going to replace all the hoses and adjust the chain. Do an overall safety check of the bike and im up and running. Hurray. I live in San Francisco CA if anyone else is an enthusiast for these in my neck of the woods.
Happy to be back on the forum. Cya around
Congrats
$500 for a running bike with 15k doesn't sound too shabby!
I totally agree! Congrats and (of course) can we see pics? :icon_mrgreen:
Whooo hoooo another GS lives ...
91 ??? original colors - Blue (I love that color), black - OK, red, OK and the godawful Teal ...
Cool.
Buddha.
The bike would turn over, back fire. I found that the gas tank was half full of fuel, half full of rusty water. Cleaned that out and replaced all the fuel hoses and omitted the California smog canister. Runs good. Seems to idle kinda high. I have tried to set it around 1500 rpm but it hesitates to go under 2500 rpm. any suggestions for lowing idle without the bike hesitating. I closed off vacuum lines which were going to the emission control stuff.
Intake boots/manifold?
