Title: Shortening wrist twist - sv650 throttle
Post by: jdavids1 on October 02, 2014, 06:19:52 AM
Hey Guys

I would like to replace my gs500 throttle with the sv650 throttle in order to shorten my wrist twist.

I tried to search the forums and wiki but could not find out how to perform this upgrade.

Can anyone link me to a how-to for this or explain how to do it?

I am not that handy so I don't want to just fiddle and see how it goes, that usually turns out badly for me, haha.

Thanks

James

Check out the above thread for part numbers, links, and other info.  SV650 tube from motion pro is a good replacement for older GS's.  Newer GS's can use either the SV650 tube, or the R6 tube for even shorter throw.

As far as install.  It's very simple.  Just take the screws out that hold the right hand control together around the throttle tube.  Swap your hand grips and cable, and then reassemble.  You might need to adjust your throttle cable freeplay afterward if  you don't have enough slack.  Check full lock to lock to see if the throttle pulls on it's own.  If not, you are good.
