Can't really provide to much feedback on it as I have never done it but here (http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Main.WiringDiagrams) is a link to the wiring diagrams.

Best of luck!

Keep a close eye on this thread:

It seems as though he's going through the same thing right now. I'm alright modifying stock wiring, but I haven't started from scratch.

Rather than creating a new topic, I'm using this one in hope that someone could guide me with my small wiring project.

As I said in another thread, I've been looking in adding hazard lights to my bike. I received most of the parts needed except the diodes (have to wait a week or so), so I've been working on a wiring diagram to see how I'm going to put my switch in place.

Here's the diagram : http://i.imgur.com/wDVON84.png (http://i.imgur.com/wDVON84.png)

Now I have three doubts about all that :

1/ I'm hesitating on either using Wagos when I split the cables, or weld them. I bought a simple switch that I'm going to put on the right side of my handlebar, right behind the master cylinder. I'm thinking that Wagos should be better if I ever decide to change my handlebar switches for some more recent (FZ6 or something close), but welding them should save me a lot of space and should be stronger.

2/ I don't know if I should do it before or after the connector that send the cables to the handlebar switch (this connector : http://i.imgur.com/jj9rWMV.png (http://i.imgur.com/jj9rWMV.png)). I don't think that would change anything, it seems like I'd have way more room to work if I do it before the connector.

3/ Does anyone see a mistake on my diagram? The switch I bought have a grey and black cable, I've got some purple wire so I might cut the black cable and put some purple instead.

Vycama, I don't personally see a problem with the diagram, but it's been a while since I messed with wiring as well. Curious though: what are wagos?

I added hazard lights to my current bike, but I used a left hand control from a GSXR. The control has everything built in, but it did need wired to my harness.

I was curious too so I googled it. Lookit how cool they are: http://www.wago.us/products/terminal-blocks-and-connectors/overview/

Neat thread and Rich that's a brilliant idea to use the gsxr control!

Yes, Wagos is a brand that make screw terminals where you don't need to screw the cable but clip it.

I've been looking for aftermarket handlebar switches or some from another bike, but it comes way more expensive (40-70€ for a single hand control). I'm using this little mod to learn again all the electrical stuff I did learn in middle school in case I need it again.

I will probably change my handlebar switches someday because I've got some kind of bad contact with my engine starter switch. I often need to press it multiple times to make it start the bike. I quickly took a look inside the right control the other day but couldn't find anything.

So would you rather weld the cables or use a terminal to link them?
