Title: engine locked
Post by: vampris3585 on October 18, 2014, 05:17:08 PM
so my gs really had got the engine locked up. i have been having some bad luck with oil on this bike. like oil leak and burning of the oil. so my thing is what motor can fit into the frame of the gs other then the same motor and at the same time how much work would it be to put the gsxr 750 motor in the bike. its a question and kind of want to know if it is able to be done?

Not an expert by any means but your best bet is most likely a GS motor. Your talking twice the cylinders with a GSXR motor. That's not considering electrics and alignment issues of the output sprocket and rear wheel sprocket and a bunch of things I just don't know about.
Basically just go but a GSXR is you want that motor.

GSXR600 motor has been done.

if welding steel is something you can do, and do RIGHT. the GS500 frame could fit anything you want...

also have you cracked it open and viewed the inside? on what exactly locked up?

cause if the top-end is still good [i dont care about the valves themselves they can be burnt for all I care] I might be willing to take that part off your hands for a reasonable price?
