Title: GS-500 Find Story....
Post by: Denny Lee on October 23, 2014, 07:27:51 AM
Ya'll,

I've had a "hankerin" for a GS-500E for many a year, and I bought one. I pick it up on Monday. It's a second owner bike with 15,000 miles on her - clean, and bone cold stock. The guy I'm buying it from - bought it and proceeded to have it (mercifully... ) fall over on him while he was standing still! Broke his collarbone and consequently owning a motorcycle was off the list of "fun items" in his life. The only damage was to the right side points cover - I have already found one to replace that piece.   ARE YOU READY...  I paid $800 for it.
Time to: replace the tires, flush brake fluids, replace pads as necessary, change the oil/filter with some nice fresh Royal Purple, flush and replace the fork oil - check seals, check valve clearances, new spark plugs, new air filter, check and replace all cables - as necessary, and put on a small windshield.  Then, a nice "new" back road explorer will be reborn. For less than $1200 total!
Seek and ye shall find my friends....

Agreed!  Nice find and I am sure that GS thanks you for all the TLC it will be getting  :D  Can't wait to see the progress... do you have any specific windshield in mind?

Wow!   The "fun-to-dollar" ratio is off the chart!
