Title: Keepin' a Record
Post by: lynx124 on October 27, 2014, 11:33:51 AM
(I guess this is the right place to put this)

So I am actively getting acquainted with working on my '07 GS500 and my '01, and I'm certainly learning along the way. Things are starting out slow as I learn how to do things, save up for it, and actually find the time to get it done. I wanted to start a thread where I post all of the things I do to my bike for a personal record, for people to learn from my (many) mistakes, and for people to give me (much needed) advice. Things are going to start slow and small and hopefully spread into bigger 'things' lol. Just to get everyone up to speed, here is where Emma (my '07 GS500) currently stands:

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but when I remember I'll add it in.

So, I just ordered my second Kenda Cruiser K671 Tire - 130/70H-17 from Amazon and it arrived yesterday. I know there is a lot of tire-talk on this forum, but this is the tire that I bought the bike from the previous owner with and they have been nothing but awesome. They have plenty of life in them, they are sticky enough for twisties, and the thick center makes it ideal for the long jaunts up and down NJ Route 18. The reason I'm changing them is because I got a nail in my previous one, and although I used a tire repair kit to fix the old one, the tread is nearing 'end-of-life' status anyways, so I figure I'll keep the old one as a spare. The front tire is the stock battle-axe tire, and it seems to be in good condition for now so I think I'll keep it for one more season.
Hopefully I will get onto fixing that this weekend.

This has nothing to do with the bike, but I did order some Plati-dip to dip my helmet. Ordered matte black and blaze blue, I'll probably paint it this weekend as well and post pics!

Had a little bit of time last night so I put down the first matte black coats of plastidip!

Here's the matte black -- I'm keeping the vents silver, I just figured i'd do all the peeling at the end
