Hey guys. Posted a week or so ago about the bike not starting/fuel starvation issue. When I opened the float drains only a tiny bit of gas came out and that was it. A few guys said it may be stuck needles.
Took the carbs off today and pulled the float bowls, floats and jets. The bowls are pretty well clean, as are the jets (although I'm still going to shine them up). The needles don't want to seem to budge though. I've never taken the carbs apart on this particular bike but the Weber IDFs I just rebuilt had needles that would lift out of the valve body with the floats. With these there seems to be zero travel.
Any ideas for freeing them up? It seems like all that stands between me and a running bike are these needles, but I don't want to start man handling them for fear of breaking something.
Got it. For anyone who might need the same info, a bit of solvent and a pair of needle nose pliers is all you need. The needle is the four pointed brass thing which slides into the valve body. Like most carbs the needle is completely removable.
