Hey fellas (and ladies),
New to the board but been lurking for a while. Just picked up a 2006 GS500F with about 6k on it a couple of weeks ago. I grew up on dirtbikes and after not riding a motorized bike in about 10 years, I'm finally getting back on! Figured a GS500 would be the perfect bike to get my riding skills back and enjoy the streets for the first time. Been out a few times already and love it! I'm gonna take the MSF course soon, already got all my gear, and I can't wait to be riding regularly.
As for the bike, she's in pretty good shape. It's mostly stock although the previous owner tweaked the fairings a bit up front to make it a little slimmer. I have to admit, I like the thinner look :). Rear tire went flat on me during my first ride :cry:, but I was able to safely get it off the road and get a new tire on... except it went flat again after just one day!? I just refilled it a couple of days ago and it's holding fine in my garage... I'll take it out for a short ride tomorrow and see if it holds. If not, looks like I'll have to take it back in to the shop.
Also getting an idle issue and I'll be stripping her apart to take a closer look and find the culprit (new to working on motorcycles, but relatively mechanically inclined). But that's another post lol.
