Lol... passenger trains types  in use today that I can think of without straining, ummm. ..
New South Wales-  5
Queensland- 3? (Slips would know)
Victoria- 4
South Australia- 3 I think?
West Australia- 3
Northern Territory- ?
Tasmania- they still happy with their conestoga wagons! ;)

Actual numbers of trains. .  No idea. . You'll have to visit a Gunzel site for that. . Bahahaha
