Hey everyone I was watching the weather channel and saw that it's going to be above freez'n this week, which means I might go out for a ride or few...My question is that my bike has been sitting for 2months in a shed. I did stabilize the fuel and I'm goinng to put new plugs in. but how long should it take to fire at least? I just keep getting the motor turning over...no fire or nuth'n, not even a putt-putt :dunno: It was "VERY" very cold neg-degree range last week and I'm thinking maybe the fuel line has gelled? I'm not sure how low that fuel stabelizer will go...
Hows your battery? Does it have enough amperage to really crank? That was the problem I had when I started mine up a couple weeks ago. I had stabalized the fuel and everything, but the battery wouldnt give er enough.
It should fire with a sufficient charge pretty damn quik. once mine had some good battery power it fired right up.
I was thingk that too so right now I got her hooked up to the life-support monitor [aka-charger :lol: ] anyhow I think that might just be it. It cranks but more of a chug chugg not a rapid turn over. I put in a new diehard battery in september so it should ok but a little charging won't hurt
It will for sure fire now. quik too I bet. What I did (which I know isnt the best idea) is hooked my bike up too my camaro's battery, and fired it up. That gave it sufficient amperage.
I never had a problem jump starting or hooking up to a car battery. The car battery has the same voltage. Your bike will not pull anymore amps just because the battery is bigger. If it is very cold outside the voltage will drop even on a fully charged battery. If your battery is even slightly discaharged the problem is multiplied.
I have a little carb issue at this point. To start it when the temperature is in the 20's I stick an electric heater near the bottom of the bike for 30 minutes. Works like a charm.
I've used a hair dryer as well. If your battery is in the house while charging, you should have no problem. IF it's cold, watch out.
Switch the petcock to PRI.
