Oh good grief!
Next time, tell them to call you and you can drive over and get it.
I had something similar happen a while back.
A package got sent to Kinston (my local hub), then to Ohio, then to NJ, then to Fayetteville, then BACK to Kinston, before finally being delivered.
Only 6 days late, not too bad. lol
yep.
i had a package shipped from albany ny, to birmingham, and it made 5 revolutions in pennsylvania, then down the east coast, and finally arrived 14 days later.
in recent years things have come from oregon, in less than 3 days.
from canada, in less than 4.
ups/fedex is always faster and more direct than USPS.
It sure does happen but....
In five years of sending about 50 packages of motorcycle parts all over the world (each week) I have had just 2 packages lost and another 4 that got into a loop like Budda is talking about. They do it cheaper than Fedx or UPS and in most cases just about as quickly. Folks at the office I work with are friendly and helpful.
I think their loosing money is just a cost of living in the US.
No USPS is phenomenal. I've sent 1000's over the last 15 years. Dont think they lost or even delayed even 1.
This is a Fed-ex to USPS is crap, and the poor postal service is getting shafted.
That needs to die.
Also USPS has been shafted by the rise of paypal. No one gets a Postal MO any more. That was easy $$$ they lost.
And the postal servive has a "reciprocity" deal, As in, when you send something over seas, you pay postage. USPS carts it to their local ship/airport, and off it goes to the target country. The target country delivers from airport to the house free. They make their $$$ when the reverse happens. Their citizens send stuff and they make $$$. Except, all the $$ going to china via paypal and shaZam! come from china, where USPS gets nothing. The 100 yr old balance of incoming vs outgoing being nearly equal has been broken.
Then of course there is the free boxes they give away.
I know of Idiots who have shaZam! on ebay, the ywill never sell, cos its listed at 10X market price, and these fools have it packed ready to go in USPS boxes. They have garage and barns full of crap, 1000's of boxes. Poor USPS has funded this fool's stupidity to the tune of several 1000.
I'd institute a $3 box core charge deducted at the time of shipping. As in, you come and get 10 boxes, its $30 right there, you come in to ship those, you get $3 credit per box you ship out.
That also makes for less waste. You would be then encouraged to reuse boxes, and use your own boxes.
That will also instantly put them in the black. They should in fact retroactively do it. You show up there shipping shaZam! you packed into a box you stole ast month, its an additional $3 per box.
Cool.

I want to say not as much as paypal and the crap they have to cart from china free.
I'm for rewriting the reciprocal postal arrangement between countries. So with a container full of crap, there needs to be a bundle of $$$ waiting for the mail man at every international shipping terminal.
Cool.
