Yo guys! I am considering a new "used" bike. It is an '08 yamaha fz6. It's got 50k on it BUT, it has new rubber, appears very well maintained and has many touring upgrades, Corbin saddle, racks, heated grips etc... Bike is very clean and priced at $4k. I ride a little with a friend from work who rides an fjr 1300. He's a quick rider and I'm wanting something that is easie to keep up with him. And I plan to take much longer rides this coming season. I love my GS, but fuel injection and 98 HP is calling my name! Do you guys have any thoughts on this bike? Such as reliability, power, comfort, yada yada....

I have a friend who rides an FZ6 and he says the bike is a dream. Reliable, comfortable, and smooth power without being a big bike.
Some might say the mileage is high, but I never understood how a bike isn't comparable to a car in that regard. Engines are engines, bearing are bearings, rubber is rubber. If a car can go well over 100k, why can't a bike?
Make sure you can test ride it, make sure it tracks straight and rolls smooth, and make sure the RPMs will climb. I'd say go for it! 4k sounds fine to me, but I'm hardly an expert on used bikes.

Bikes, even when well maintained, are harder on oil and parts than a car. So, most bike engines wear at an accelerated rate. On top of that, people tend to ride far more spirited than they drive so the bike probably spends more time in the upper quarter of it's tach. There are people here with 160k on their odos, but im sure they've had to service the engine a few times along the way. With 50k on the odo I'd probably be more concerned about the condition of the frame and suspension than the engine as long as it was well maintained.
